Our Ideal Client

Are you our ideal client?

Webster’s definition of a Customer is "one who purchases a product or service", and a Client is "one who is under the protection of another."

Traditionally, our clients will have at least 200 employees and sales in excess of $50 million. Currently, the most active industry sectors seeking the solutions we offer include, but are not limited to, Healthcare, Energy/Utilities, Legal, Technology and Federal/State/Local Government Agencies.

Our clients will fall into several categories depending upon their Project Management Maturity (PMM) level, which in turn, corresponds to the solutions we would typically provide to an organization at that level. These levels are generalizations as the most popular PMM models use three levels to specify the level of maturity – each varying as to what is included at each level depending on the orientation of the model. There are ideal qualities that span all categories and qualities that are indigenous to a category.

PMM Level I – Initial

  • Some defined business processes
  • Staff member(s) double as Project Managers
  • Project Management Office is only a concept

PMM Level II – Basic

  • Have or considering Project Management Office tied to IT department
  • At least one dedicated Project Professional
  • Project Management outside of IT only a concept

PMM Level III – Mature

  • Established Project Management Office
  • Active projects beyond IT department
  • Multiple Project Professionals
  • Usually one or more Business Analysts involved in projects

All Levels

  • Known problems, frustrations and concerns relating to failed projects
  • Upper management involved in solution
  • Understanding we are problem solvers and not salespeople
  • Understanding what our services can help achieve
  • Open to new ideas and willing to invest in themselves
  • Place a high value on open communication and trust
  • Pleasant to work with and have a good sense of humor

Of course, this is not a definitive list and we will work with clients outside of the above attributes, but the descriptions tend to typify our ideal client profile. Bill Cosby did not know that he spoke for PMO Resource and the Project Managers of the world when he said - “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.”
